Say It Ain't So, Tom Hicks!

Just when we thought we heard it all about Alex Rodriguez's contract, it turns out there's more. Well, maybe.

Yankee Announcer Michael Kay reported on his radio show this evening that there might be another codicil in A-Rod's infamous contract: If A-Rod does not opt out at the end of 2007 and stays with the Yankees, he can become an unrestricted free agent after 2008 or 2009, if his current $27 million annual salary isn't raised to $32 million!

Please, Mr Hicks, say it isn't so. Please tell us you weren't that hot for A-Rod that you put this additional clause in his contract. Michael Kay wondered out loud if Hicks laid down on a bed naked and just said to A-Rod, "Take me." (Just picturing that nauseates me.)

It remains to be seen whether or not this is all true. Until then, the saga continues...
