After the Orioles 6-4 victory over the Yankees last night, I tried to decide on the most impressive thing I saw in the game. Unfortunately for me and other Yankee fans, it wasn't anything anyone in pinstripes did. What I was most impressed with was the Orioles bullpen.
Starting in the 6th inning, Manager Sam Perlozzo lined up his pitchers perfectly. In 4 innings they gave up only 1 earned run on 4 hits. Perlozzo went lefty, righty, lefty, righty with pitchers John Parrish, Chad Bradford, Jamie Walker and Danys Baez, leaving righty Chris Ray to close things out.
A lot of noise was made about the $42 million the Orioles spent this past off-season on improving their bullpen. Only time will tell if it was money well-spent. But if last night is any indication at all, there just might a little dividend or two waiting for Peter Angelos at the end of the season.
