For Your Memorial Day Weekend Viewing Pleasure...

I don't know if it's because of the off-day the Yankees had yesterday or if it's my allergies finally starting to kick in, but I don't really feel like blogging about baseball today. I'm in the mood for some YouTube.

Former New York Met Tsuyoshi Shinjo is now retired from baseball. So, what's he doing now? Well, the 35 year-old Japanese outfielder recently spent 3 days in China with some baby pandas. Here he is, all smiles, wearing a woman's head band and enjoying some true panda love:

I could be wrong, but judging from the fact that the video has subtitles, it can be assumed that Shinjo is speaking Chinese. So, he's bilingual. Who knew? In any case, the video's description on YouTube says Shinjo was drawn to one particular baby panda who didn't want to join the other babies, something very important to its development. It reminded Shinjo of his own difficulty fitting in with the Mets because of his inability to speak English. At the end of the video we see Shinjo trying to give the panda a red wrist band, similar to the one he wore during his Met career.

Happy viewing, and Happy Memorial day weekend!
