Kameron Loe's Snake Loose In The Yankee Clubhouse

Texas Rangers' pitcher Kameron Loe's pet boa is loose in the Yankee Clubhouse. Apparently it's been there since Chien-Ming Wang tweaked his hamstring back in Spring training. Its latest manifestation: The hamstring of Phil Hughes.

Yeah, the Yankees are snakebit. Last night, just when it seemed as if things were about to turn the corner, just when it looked as if Phil Hughes was about to make history by pitching a no-hitter in only his second ML start, the boa bit them again.

Maybe the Yankees realized it was Loe's snake, because they touched him up for 9 runs on 10 hits, en route to a 10-1 win. In doing so, they gained a game on the Red Sox who lost to Oakland when Jonathan Papelbon blew his first save of the season.

The speculation is that Hughes will be out at least 4-6 weeks. It remains to be seen if the boa will be caught in time for the Yankees to save their season.
