The Schilling Fallout

Yesterday Curt "I care so much" Schilling came to within one out of pitching his very first no-hitter. With two outs in the bottom of the 9th inning, Shannon Stewart hit a clean single to right field, and Schilling had to settle for a complete game, one hit shutout.

Every now and then we hear talk about how much Schilling is disliked in baseball. It's no secret that Yankee fans have absolutely no love for him. Many people believe that he is not even liked in his own clubhouse. I can vouch for Yankee fans, of course, but I have no idea about his relationship with his teammates. As for players on other teams, we might have got an inkling yesterday as to how they feel. According to Pete Abraham's LoHud Yankees Blog, the Red Sox game was on in the Yankee clubhouse in Chicago yesterday. In the last paragraph of his post, Pete wrote that, when Stewart broke up the no-no, loud cheers spread throughout the room. Oh, to have been a fly on the wall when that happened!

If the Yankees had gone out and lost their game after that, they'd have looked stupid. Instead, they won their game 10-3 and Joe Torre became the 10th manager in history to win 2000 games. Overall, a very good night for The New York Yankees.

We in Boston don't care what anybody else in the country thinks of Curt. We all here love him to death! If you need to get a taste of our love for him check out his blog and see what we all write when we email him. I know you're all still bitter becasue he was the main reason for the "BIG CHOKE" in 2004 (WOW 3-0 lead and you blew it). He pitched on one bloody foot and sent the Yankees down again, just like he did in 2001 in Arizona. I wouldn't like him either if he kept taking World Series rings away from my team. Who cares about the one hitter. Schill, Wake, Beckett and Dice-K (and Yankee killer Tavaras) are pitching excellent!!!!! and remember lady: "Great pitching always beats old men in your line-up!!!!!!!" Schill takes another season away from the Yanks! I'd be upset too if I was a Yankee fan!

"the big schill's #1 fan," huh? First you're annonymous, then you're "RS Nation," and now this. Very creative. I can't wait to see what you'll call yourself next!
