The Yankees top prospect threw for 2 innings, giving up an unearned run on no hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. Hughes said the start had no effect on the hamstring that put him on the DL two months ago. "I didn't feel a thing out there, so it was good," he said.
Abraham thinks that Hughes will probably pitch again this weekend in Trenton, NJ. The Yankees will probably want him to increase his pitch count by 15-20 pitches with each additional rehab start.
It looks like Phil Hughes will be back in the Yankee rotation by the end of the month!
This is the best news Yankee fans have received in months! Yeah I know, it's probably too late to save the season, but at least there'll be something to look forward to in 2008.
