When the Yankees play the Indians tonight in Cleveland it will be Larry Doby Night. Doby, the first black player in the American League, will be honored during pregame ceremonies, and according to Anthony Castrovince at MLB.com "those lousy Yankee fans" know nothing about him.
Josh Barfield told Castrovince he "just hope[s] [Yankee fans who attend the game] learn something.... They're going to see that No. 14 and be like, 'What is that?'"
Oh, come on, Josh. Yankee fans aren't that self-centered. Somehow I don't think Josh would have said the same thing about fans of any other team. Sure, there are some Yankee fans who've never heard of Larry Doby, just like I'm sure there are some Indians fans who've never heard of him. Yankee fans aren't lousy, but what Castrovince and Josh Barfield said about them definitely is.
