The Market Is Officially Open

Jorge Posada is off the market, having just signed a four-year deal that will likely keep him with the Yankees until he hangs up his Tools Of Ignorance for good. That leaves 143 free agents that are now on the open market as of midnight last night.

Yahoo Sports has ranked all 143 remaining FAs, "based on a number of variables, including history, age and potential...determined after talking to executives, scouts and agents."

A-Rod, Andruw Jones, Torri Hunter and Barry Bonds are ranked 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. I don't have a problem with that.

Lefty reliever Mike Myers is ranked 110th. The comment next to his entry says, "The quintessential one-out lefty." Please. If that were true the Yankees would never have released him during the season.

Jeff Weaver is ranked 39th? Why that high? Can someone please explain that one to me?

Yahoo Sports will update the page as the offseason progresses. It might be a good idea to bookmark it, if you're so inclined.
