Brian Bruney Out For The Season

From 1050 ESPN Radio in New York: Brian Bruney, who suffered a lis franc injury in his foot pitching against the White Sox earlier this week, is out for the season, a bad blow for the Yankees but, an worse one for Bruney.

Bruney came to camp last month so slimmed down and in shape that some of his teammates and other Yankees personnel didn't even recognize him. This year he really wanted to make a better impression than he had last year, when his poor performance led to him getting sent down to Triple A Scranton and to Joba Chamberlain getting called up. He started of the season very well, appearing in 9 games (11.1 innings), giving up 2 runs on 7 hits, with 6 walks and 12 strikeouts, good enough for a 1.59 ERA. Now comes this setback.

Life is, indeed, cruel, sometimes.
