The Yankees optioned Melky Cabrera to AAA Scranton-Wilkes Barre yesterday, a move that saddened but did not suprise me. Evidently, the move did suprise Melky.
From Bryan Hoch at MLB.com: "...Cabrera had just three hits in his past 26 at-bats for New York, though he said he "never" expected to be sent to the Minors at this point in the season..."
From Mark Hale of The New York Post: "...The demotion seems to have caught Cabrera by surprise. 'I never thought it's going to happen,' he said, 'but that's management's decision...'"
Really, Melky? Ridiculous.
Well, now it's happened, so let's see if the Melkman can turn things around.
