Mike Mussina Expected To Retire This Week

It's not official yet and I hope it doesn't become official. My hope is sinking, though. Mike Mussina will retire this week after 18 seasons and 270 career wins.

What a difference a year makes:

On April 12, 2007 I said that his best days were with the Orioles.

A few weeks later, on April 28th, I said that he was the deciding factor in whether or not the rotation would be any good.

June 14, 2007: Things seemed to improve with the emergence of Wil Nieves as his personal catcher.

August 24, 2007: Taken out of the rotation for Kei Igawa?!

August 28, 2007: Moose thinks he's irreplaceable.

April 18, 2008: The infamous Manny Game.

July 24, 2008: Moose leads the league in wins.

September 2, 2008: The quest for 20 wins.

So, Moose turned his game around and now he appears to be going out on top. Now the debate about whether he should be in the Hall Of Fame begins. I'd vote yes.

Definitely a HOF-er, Bern. I'll miss Moose. Especially since our rotation is so uncertain right now.
