Nick Swisher: "It's A Dream Come True"

Nick Swisher held a conference call with the New York media yesterday and called his trade to the Yankees "a dream come true."

Come on. That's what they all say.

Every time a player is traded to the Yankees they say that very same thing, or something close to it. It's comical. It really is. It's not that I don't believe players when they say it. I do. But it really is comical! Listening to players gush about the Yankees, sounding like little kids in a candy shop, is hilarious. Just click on the link in the first sentence of this post and listen to the audio.

Swisher's energy during this conference call might also be due to the fact that he had an off year in 2008 and wants to put it behind him. His stats: .219 AVG, 24 HR, 69 RBI, .332 OBP. During the call he cited batting lead off for the first time in his career and playing new positions as contributing to his poor performance. However, I wouldn't look for too much of a jump from someone who's a .244 lifetime hitter. He's an upgrade (at 1B) defensively, though, and I have a feeling Yankee fans we'll finally see someone make consistently solid throws to 2B.

Welcome, Nick Swisher.
