A Comeback and A Perjury Trial: Busy Times Ahead For Andy Pettitte

Back in 2007 Andy Pettitte's good friend Roger Clemens surprised everyone midway through the season when he announced he was signing with the Yankees, ending a short retirement. No one, it seemed, was more surprised than John Sterling's sidekick Suzyn Waldman who exclaimed, "Oh my goodness gracious!" She went on to explain in her laughter-tinged Boston accent that Clemens was standing in George Steinbrenner's "boax" thrilling the crowd with his speech.

That was about as exciting as the Clemens comeback got. He did very little to help the Yankees that season. Now it's Andy Pettitte's turn. Will he be successful?

Whether or not Pettitte is successful, it might pale in comparison to something else Pettitte might have to do this coming season: testify at the Roger Clemens perjury trial which starts on April 16th. Depending on Pettitte's mindset, this could either derail his comeback or not affect it at all. I'm hoping it's the latter.

Welcome back, Andy, and good luck.
