The End Of A Winning Streak Brings Memories Of A Once (And Future?) Yankee

So, it ends at 10. It was a fun winning streak, one that I will remember for years.

Or, will I?

The last time the Yankees won 10 in a row was back in 2005. I have absolutely no memory of it. It makes sense, considering the hundreds of games played since '05. But, then again, this was a 10-game winning streak. That's not something that is done every week. Funny how the mind works.

The longest Yankee winning streak I do remember is an 8-game streak which Melky Cabrera helped to extend with some stellar plays. (Don't ask me what year that was).

I'm sure that Melky Cabrera is the only reason I remember that streak. My once (and future?) favorite Yankee had some good years in New York and he's having an even better year in San Francisco. In fact, he's having such a good year that, if voting for the All Star Game ended today, Melky Cabrera would be one of the starting outfielders for the NL team. I would love to see him patrolling one of the outfield corners (or, even center field) in Kansas City next month. Vote for Melky here if you want to see it, too.

Bring back the Melkman! Who's with me?
