Sabathia Finally Keeps Pace, Pitches Yanks To 10th Straight Win

During this now 10-game winning streak, the Yankees rotation has been stellar. With the exception of CC Sabathia, that is. Going into last night's start, Sabathia had trouble in the early innings in his last few starts, giving up runs in each of them, forcing the Yankees to play catch-up baseball. It looked like more of the same last night when CC gave up a first-inning run. But, he settled down and pitched a complete game 7-hitter, and the Yankees beat the Braves for the 4th straight time, 6-2.

What was different about this start? I'll let Joe Girardi break it down:

So Sabathia broke out of what, for him, was a slump and joined this current run that the rotation is making. Good news. Some other good news: The Yankees were 3-7 with runners in scoring position last night, thanks mainly to Derek Jeter whose 2 hits both came with RISP.

Ten in a row. Keep it going, guys!

Other Notes:

* How about that R.A. Dickey? If you don't think he's the best pitcher in baseball right now, there is something wrong with you. Looks like there'll be a showdown at Citi Field on Sunday night: Sabathia vs Dickey. Definitely a must-see.

* Roger Clemens is still a cheat. That is all.
