The Noise Palace That Is Tropicana Field

I am so glad the Yankees' losing streak at Tropicana Field ended yesterday a 9 games. I've never been to The Trop but, just from looking at it on TV over the years, I have come to hate it with a passion. It is, hands down, the loudest, most vile place in the American League. All the horns, the loud PA system, and the cowbells and catwalks are enough to make someone lose their mind.

John Sterling, the radio voice of the Yankees, can barely do his job in that noise machine, pausing, sometimes in mid-sentence, when the place erupts, spouting violent, ear-splitting noise. Although, Sterling can barely do his job in any ballpark if the slightest bit of noise is made. Ordinarily I can't stand those dramatic pauses of his, but at The Trop, he has my sympathies.

So the Yankees escaped the Noise Palace with a 4-3 victory yesterday. Now it's on to Boston. Hopefully they can make enough noise of their own at Fenway to knock the Red Sox out of contention in the AL East.

Go, Yankees!
