ALDS Game 5: Yankees 3, Orioles 1

It wasn't the shutout I said had to happen but it was a complete game win nonetheless. CC Sabathia finished off a great run for Yankee pitchers in the ALDS by allowing just one run on four hits, and walking two and striking out nine.

On the other side of the ball, the three runs the Yankees scored felt like ten with the big fella on the mound. But it was the way they scored the runs that was most impressive to me. Teixeira's stolen base was shocking.    And although one run was via the home run, it was of the tack on variety.

So the Yankees move on to the ALCS against the Detroit Tigers. The Baltimore Orioles are going home. This morning on WFAN Radio, Richard Neer described the Orioles as a piece of gum that gets stuck to the bottom of your shoe. You have an extremely hard time getting it off. It takes forever. Last night, forever finally ended.

Congratulations to the Orioles for a great season, and continued good luck to the Yankees in this exciting postseason.
