The Goose Gossage Award is the award for top reliever in the league. My ballot is as follows:
1st Place, Fernando Rodney, Tampa Bay Rays
2nd Place, Jim Johnson, Baltimore Orioles
3rd Place, Rafael Soriano, New York Yankees
Johnson was the saves leader with 51 saves. However, Rodney led in almost every other category, including strikeouts, batting average against and WHIP. (He was tied with Johnson in walks at 15.) That's why he's my choice for the American League's top reliever in 2012.
Tomorrow: The Walter Johson Award for top starting pitcher.
