That has to be it. I cannot believe that Kevin Youkilis is that much of a jerk that he wouldn't call Joba Chamberlain back after the pitcher called him to extend an olive branch, in an effort to put their past incidents behind them.
I came to this conclusion almost as soon as I heard that ESPN New York' s Andrew Marchand was reporting that Joba was still waiting to hear back from Youk.
I could understand him not calling Joba back if he had not signed with the Yankees and was still on another team. But why would he continue to hold a grudge now that the two of them were teammates? Even if he did still hold a grudge, calling Joba back is the right thing to do, so that a united front can be presented to the public.
I know this isn't a huge story. It's not as important as the search for a righty-hitting outfielder or starting catcher. But Youkilis needs to put this thing to rest already. To paraphrase Marchand, "Hey Youk, call Joba back!"
