Teix & Youk Go Down Again, Along With Yanks' Postseason Chances

Another one bites the dust. And, another one.

After Mark Teixeira and Kevin Youkilis returned to the DL yesterday, I began to wonder if the end is near for the New York Yankees. Injury-wise, they have had setback after setback. It is as if they are climbing up a greased pole.  Could the grease finally be getting the best of them?

Youkilis obviously has not worked out for the Yankees. What a disappointment! However, the one thing the Yankees can hang their hat on is that his is only a one-year deal. Teixeira is another story. Considering his notorious slow starts every year, he may not be anywhere near productive until the home stretch of the season. That's assuming he comes back this season and, by some accounts, he likely won't be back at all.

Back when the belief in his coming back was unanimous, they Yankees surprised everyone by playing extremely well.  For a while, my pre-season prediction for them as the second Wild Card looked all wrong. However, now I look pretty good, if I may say so myself.

Needless to say, I don't feel like celebrating my pick. I would rather celebrate being wrong. The chance of doing that, however, may be slipping away.
