Please, Just Disappear

It's all supposed to come to a head on Monday.  At that time, we should finally know what is going on. Suspensions should be announced and appeals should be made known.

Of course, there is one more thing that is supposed to happen on Monday: Barring any new injuries or, dare I say it, his acceptance of his suspension, Alex Rodriguez will finally make his season debut with the New York Yankees.

Is there a doll somewhere that I can stick a pin into? Can I fix it so that A-Rod hurts himself between now and Sunday night? Perhaps, if I pray hard enough, he will accept the error of his ways and agree to be suspended.

That's right, I don't him back.

Up until a few days ago I felt that Alex Rodriguez had a right to appeal, a right to fight it to the end, to go down swinging. However, as this fiasco has become just that, as things have gotten as out of hand as they obviously are, I have had a change of heart.  A-Rod will be too much of a distraction if he returns.

A distraction to me.

The Yankees are all saying the right thing: He won't be a distraction. They need his bat in the lineup. A diminished Alex Rodriguez is better than every other third baseman they've had this season. Yadda, yadda, yadda. I don't care.

At this point, I don't care if he comes back and plays like the Alex Rodriguez who won two MVP awards. I don't care if he plays the way he played in the 2009 World Series. I'm sick of the guy, and I want him to just disappear. Please, just disappear.

According to reports, he is not going to disappear. That fact is nearly enough to make me disappear. It is going to be very hard to follow this team as long as the Alex Rodriguez Side Show is in town. But, follow I must, and I will be counting the days until that show is over, however long it takes.

Something tells me I will be counting for a very long time.
