Several good things happened during the series the Yankees played against the White Sox this week. The best of those things, of course, was that the Yankees swept the series and, as a result, are now only 2.5 games out of the second Wild Card Spot.
Among the other things that happened was a slight improvement in the starting pitching. Part of that improvement came in the form of an announcement by Joe Girardi that Phil Hughes was finally coming out of the rotation. The other things were performances of Hiroki Kuroda and CC Sabathia.
Kuroda wasn't that great in game two of the series but, he wasn't terrible either. Sabathia, on the other hand, put together a solid performance in the series finale, indicating that he has turned the corner.
Needless to say, it is important that this good fortune continue, what with the Red Sox coming to town tonight. This series will probably establish whether or not the Yankees still have a shot at winning the division. However, they have to remember what Brian Cashman said a few months ago: walk before you run.
If it were up to me I would say forget about running. Just keep on walking, guys. Walk right into that Wild Card spot.
