Just before the All Star Break this season, Blue Jays reliever Steve Delabar was in a battle with David Robertson for the final spot on the American League All Star Roster. Delabar won the battle and represented Toronto at the All Star Game. Ever since then, he has struggled on the mound. His struggles were magnified last night when he coughed up a lead, letting the Yankees come from behind to win the game 4-3.
Was it the Curse Of David Robertson?
Of course not. It just feels good to see someone who outlasted a Yankee fall apart against the Yankees themselves. It feels like payback, and I'm glad the Yankees paid up.
Still a lot of paying up to do. The finish line is in sight and the Yankees can afford no more slowdowns. I'm not entirely convinced that they won't slow it down again but, at least I'm pondering that possibility. That is something I never thought I would be doing a month ago.
Ten games left.
