1-0 Record, 14IP, 6R, 5ER, 1BB, 18K, 3.21 ERA
Is this what 24-0 and 1.27 translate to?
The sample size is too small, of course, but Masahiro Tanaka has given Major League Baseball and everyone else involved reasons to believe that he will be make a fine transition from Japanese to American baseball.
I've watched both of Tanaka's starts and, the thing I am most impressed with is that, not only does he realize adjustments need to be made, he actively endeavors to make them. You can tell that he has welcomed this challenge that is Major League Baseball and is determined to ace it.
His next start should be on Tuesday the 15th against the Cubs, which is, incidentally, Jackie Robinson Day. There would be no day like this without Robinson and, perhaps, there would be no Tanaka in the Major Leagues, either.
Keep up the good work, Tanaka.
