Derek Jeter Gift Meter: Chicago White Sox

The Chicago White Sox put a lot of effort into their farewell gift to Yankees captain Derek Jeter. They almost succeeded.

1. Dirt from the short stop areas in US Cellular Field and the old Comiskey Park, names of legendary shortstops on the container.

2. A bench made (by former White Sox outfielder Ron Kittle) of the bats of iconic Yankees (i.e. Yogi Berra and Bill "Moose" Skowron).

3. A $50,000 check, payable to Jeter's Turn 2 Foundation.

Analysis:  The dirt is cool but not very original. He'll probably get a ton more of  it before the season ends. The bench is a nice touch, but it reminds me too much of the rocking chair the Minnesota Twins gave to Mariano Rivera last year.  As for the money, it's money!

Rating:  On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being garbage and 10 being perfect-- 6

Up next: The St Louis Cardinals
