The third stop on the Derek Jeter Farewell Tour took place yesterday afternoon in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Brewers went all out--or, thought they did. The entire thing fell flat. Like a mug of stale beer.
1. A bronze replica of Jeter's Louisville Slugger bat, presented by Dick Groch, the agent who signed him to his first Yankees contract.
2. A stay at and a round of golf at the American Club at Whistling Straits in Kohler, WI.
3. A check for $10,000 to Jeter's Turn 2 Foundation.
Analysis: While a contribution to someone's foundation is always a good thing, couldn't the Brewers have done better than a bronze bat and a visit to a country club? Both demonstrate little creativity and absolutely zero originality. I expected much better than that. What? No sausages, beer or cheese?
Rating: On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being garbage and 10 perfect-- 4
So, if I'm correct, the next presentation will take place at Citi Field later this week. Hopefully, the Mets will move the meter past 5 again.
