The Seattle Mariners had Derek Jeter's Major League debut in mind while planning their farewell gift to him.
In addition to a personal gift of an engraved wristwatch from Robinson Cano, the Ms presented Jeter with:
1. A seat from the old Seattle Kingdome
2. A base from Safeco Field
3. A check for $5,000, made out to Jeter's Turn 2 Foundation
Analysis: It was very cool of the Mariners to honor the fact that Seattle was where it all began--and, in a sense, ends--for the Captain. It was also nice to see Mariners players from throughout Jeter's career during the presentation: Jay Buhner, Edgar Martinez, Felix Hernandez and Cano. Very nice touch, all around.
Rating: On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being garbage and 10 being perfect-- 9
