Poor Bullpen Management Leads To Another Yankees Loss Against The Astros

In last night's second straight Yankees loss to the Houston Astros, the offense was anemic again.

That wasn't the story, however.

Ordinarily Joe Girardi does a very good job of managing his bullpen, but his moves in last night's game left me scratching my head.

David Robertson, Shawn Kelley and Dellin Betances had pitched three out of the last four days. Therefore, according to Girardi, they were not available last night.  So instead, he went with David Huff, Esmil Rogers and Chase Whitley.

Wasn't Monday an off-day? Didn't Betances pitch only one inning on Tuesday?  I see no reason why he couldn't have pitched an inning last night.  Unless he is hurt, a "tired" Dellin Betances would have been a better option than the combination of Huff and Rogers.

Time is running out. (Some say it already has.)  There is no more room for mistakes like the one Giardi made last night.  He needs to return to his bullpen managing skills, starting today in the series finale.
