After Derek Jeter's Stadium Finale, Star of Rival Red Sox Sums Things Up Perfectly


"That's him."

Those two words were uttered by Boston Red Sox designated hitter and long time Yankee killer David Ortiz.  Ortiz was referring to the storybook ending to Derek Jeter's last ever game at Yankee Stadium. There were many other tributes to The Captain by players, fans and celebrities alike, but those two words by Big Papi were more powerful than anything else anyone said or wrote last night.

After all, Jeter did what he has done throughout his entire career: With a flair for the dramatic, he rose to the occasion, more than living up to the variation of his nickname- Captain Clutch:



Ortiz also summed up the atmosphere, which can clearly be observed in the above clip, by saying, "...that was like a playoff game right there...."

What a sendoff by the fans and, what a way to say goodbye by Derek Jeter.
