Last night's 11-5 win over the Rays gave the Yankees a 21-12 record, the best in the American League. They accomplished the feat thanks to contributions from everyone who played, including two of the most unlikely, CC Sabathia and Carlos Beltran.
Sabathia earned his first win of the season, putting together a very solid line: 7IP, 6H, 4R, 3ER, 2BB, 9K, 2HR. Beltran, who has hit .324 over his last 10 games, went 2-5 with a HR and an RBI, while scoring two runs.
These are two men whom Yankees Universe had all but given up on. Some, including myself, actually had given up on them. Last night, both proclaimed to their naysayers, "Not so fast! There's still something left in the tank."
If both continue to empty their tanks, the Yankees will be in great shape for the rest of the season. Sabathia would strengthen an already competitive rotation, and Beltran would add punch to a lineup that is already nothing to sneeze at.
Go for it, fellas.
