I had no faith that this year's team could pull off another thrilling walk-off win, let alone score six runs in the ninth as they did last night. While they trailed 6-1 in the sixth, I entertained myself by discussing possible seller scenarios with other fans on Twitter, wondering if Yankee brass would have the guts to actually be sellers. However, by the ninth inning I had all but forgotten such thoughts, thanks to Brian McCann's second HR of the game (tying the score) and Didi Gregorius's walk-off blast.
After the game, Didi hopped onto Twitter:
A week ago I would have rolled my eyes and said, "Yeah, yeah, sure." However, the fact that they were able to come back and win a game after being dead in the water TWICE, two weeks in a row, makes me wonder if Didi is right. He's not giving up. His teammates are not giving up. So, maybe I shouldn't give up either.#spreadthenews yankees Win ... Great game overall .... Not GIVING up— Sir Didi Gregorius (@DidiG18) June 30, 2016
Two weeks ago I said that the next two weeks needed to be do or die for this team. While they didn't quite "do," they made sure that they didn't die. Hopefully they can continue to keep death in the rear view mirror.
