Birthday Boy Judge Helps Yankees Win at Fenway

Welcome to Fenway, Aaron Judge.

Judge's first challenge of the 2017 season at Fenway Park turned into a success. Eyeing the Monster in left field, Judge adjusted his swing enough to take Boston's Rick Porcello over the right field bullpen for his seventh home run of the season with a man aboard, Big strong right handed hitters are expected to aim for left field in Boston, but going the opposite way counts all the same. Up 2-0, an insurance run would come in handy, and Judge drew a walk and came around on Greg Bird's off the Monster single. So, that wall did come in handy for the Yankees offense after all. The offense managed just five hits, but that was enough, the way Luis Severino pitched.

And don't forget the defense. especially Judge's Jeter-esque dive into the lower stands down the right field line. All this on Judge's 25th birthday. And Aroldis Chapman saved the day, though he threw 33 pitches and allowed a run before finishing off his fifth save of the season, striking out the final two hitters with the tying run on base.

Most importantly, the Yankees won at Fenway, a place where they managed only two wins in ten tries last season.

Congratulations, Aaron Judge. Nothing like being the star of the game on your birthday!
