Top 10 Tuesday: 2017 Home Opener Edition

What an enjoyable Home Opener at the Stadium yesterday! Here are its top 10 moments:

10. The weather. Sunny, low humidity, temps in the upper 70s. Perfect for a day at the ballpark.

  9. Manager Joe Girardi began his annual tee-shirt-wearing-for-charity project with Sparrow's Nest.

  8. Kyle Higashioka finally made his MLB debut, after 10 years in the minor leagues.

  7. A couple of fans came to the game in judge's robes, a nod to RF Aaron Judge.

  6. It was Judgement Day, as Aaron Judge hit his second homer of the season, a solo shot.

  5. Chase Headley also hit a solo shot, and Starlin Castro hit a two-run homer.

  4. Brett Gardner stole two bases. Two!

  3. Michael Pineda was nearly perfect, retiring his first 20 batters: 7.2IP,  2H, 1ER, 11K, 0BB

  2. Pineda became the eighth pitcher since 1913 to have multiple 10-K, 0-BB games for NYY.

  1. Yankees beat the Rays 8-1. They are now 76-38 all-time in home openers, best record in MLB.

An off-day today, before the same two teams meet tomorrow. Can't wait to see Jordan Montgomery make his MLB debut for the Yankees!
