I wasn't too happy to hear that Joe Girardi decided to sit Greg Bird against the lefty Derek Holland. After all, Bird had broken out of his slump BIG time on Sunday. It looked like a pretty bad decision, especially with Chris Carter going 0-3. But all's well that ends well, of course. The Yankees defeated the White Sox 7-4 last night for their eighth straight win, their seventh at the Stadium against zero losses.
This streak reminds me of Spring Training. Everyone says it means nothing, and yes, it does mean nothing. However, after so much domination against Grapefruit League competition, it was hard to expect anything but continued success from the Yankees. Well, it took a week, but the success did continue.
As far as how long it will continue is another thing altogether. Those who predict such things have chosen the Yankees to finish fourth or fifth in the division. (Personally, I'll just be happy if they finish above .500.) Right now they are in a virtual tie for first place with Baltimore.
How long can they stay on top? I'm looking forward to finding out.
