Judge Homers, But Yankees Lose At Camden Yards Again

Jordan Montgomery didn't have his curveball or his changeup, and had thrown 100 pitches by the time he was removed in the fourth inning. But if that is all you know about yesterday's loss to the Orioles you are grossly misinformed.

The Yankees turned into a little league team yesterday. They couldn't run the bases and made defensive errors that made their fans cringe. Starlin Castro was particularly cringeworthy. At least he was picked up by Aaron Hick's sac fly after he failed to score on the previous play.

Mistakes like this cannot happen at Camden Yards, a place where the Yankees haven't won a series in a very long time. Those happy days in Charm City aren't even in the rear view mirror anymore. I'm sure the Orioles and their fans were very confident, going into the game, that their seven game losing streak had a great chance to end. Which it did.

Meanwhile, Aaron Judge hit his 17th home-run, putting him in the Major League lead. He has hit more home runs by Memorial Day than any other rookie in history. All rise, indeed.

A Hooked Trout
I don't know anyone who wasn't sad to hear the Mike Trout news last night. The first trip to the DL in his MLB career. He will go ahead and have surgery on the thumb, a decision probably made easier by the fact that the Angels are so perpetually bad. Even the best player in baseball can't help that team. Such a shame.

Get well soon, Mike. The game already misses you.
