Yankees Stumble Into All Star Break

The All Star Break has finally arrived.

For the Yankees, the key words here are "break" and "finally." After beginning the season 21-9 and having as much as a 15-game lead in the AL East, they are now 45-41, good enough for second place, 3.5 games behind the first place Boston Red Sox. They also currently hold the first AL Wild Card.

Everyone agrees that the free fall began early last month during the west coast trip. However, not everyone agrees on why it happened. If you ask the players, they'll say it was the injuries, and nothing else, that caused it. If you ask the manager and coaching staff, they'll say bad play assumed a minor role. If you ask the fans, well, many would say it's all Joe Girardi's fault.

Of course, it's all of the above. Hopefully, this break will give everyone, from management all the way down to the fans, a chance to rest and recharge, so that we can all start thinking clearly again once the season resumes Friday in Boston.

Barring any major news, our posts will resume then. Enjoy the break, everyone!
