Yankees Win After Judge & Gary Commit To Derby

Long Island's own Marcus Stroman has pitched well against the Yankees in his short career. Not at Yankee Stadium, though. He has an ERA over 6.00 in the Bronx, and while he only gave up two runs last night, he had to leave the game due to a possible injury, just as he did in his last Stadium start.

I was afraid those two runs the Yankees scored off the Blue Jay's ace were going to be all they could manage. It would not have surprised me if they ended up losing the game 3-2. But Toronto's bullpen, and their catcher, Luke Maile, were generous. Aroldis Chapman was less generous, but he still gave Yankees Universe a scare, before closing it out, final score 6-3.

Both Chapman and Dellin Betances were better than they were in their previous appearances, though I'm not convinced that Chapman is completely healthy. Could Joe Maddon over-using him in the World Series be the cause of all this? If so, he deserves the mediocre, hungover team he's managing this year. Hopefully Chapman will get enough rest during the All Star Break, and will come back stronger and better than ever.

Speaking of the All Star Break, I'm so happy Aaron Judge will be in the Home Run Derby.  And, Gary Sanchez! Although, the way Sanchez swings the bat, he might end up hurting himself. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

CC Sabathia on the mound today, back form the DL. Win the series, guys, and a Happy Fourth of July to all our readers!
