Yankees Complete 7-2 Home Stand, Capitol Awaits

As Ken Singleton says, they won this series the hard way. After losing the first game on Friday night, the Yankees took the next two, giving them a 2-1 series win over Oakland, which completed a 7-2 home stand. They are still tied for first place with the Red Sox.

The A's are such pains in the neck. They annoy you constantly, always threatening to smother you to death. Saturday's win was fought hard for, and though Sunday's was easier to come by, the A's made Luis Severino work. He didn't have his best stuff, which could have caused him to be smothered had he been a lesser pitcher. But Sevy did what an ace does when he doesn't have his best stuff: grinded it out.

Weird week coming up. An off-day tomorrow, then a brief two-game set against the Nats in Washington, then another off-day before they head to Kansas City.  What gives? This isn't basketball.

Anyway, Sunday, of course, was Mothers Day. I love the idea behind all the pink clothing, bats and accessories. I love what they stand for. I just don't like them. I don't like the stuff. It's ugly as hell. At least the interlocking NY on the uniforms wasn't pink this year. They went too far last year with that.

Gio Gonzalez and Max Sherzer await. Ugh, things could get ugly in the nation's capitol this week. For a change, I wish I meant that politics could get ugly. No matter, go Yankees, anyway.
